Anacapri
The second largest municipality on the island with its maze of alleys, vaulted houses and an unexpected Earthly Paradise.
If Capri's Piazzetta is the mundane heart of the island, a focal point for afternoon strolling and evening aperitifs at bar tables, Anacapri's historic center is the place where it is still possible to stroll calmly through quiet squares and narrow streets colored by geraniums and bougainvillea.
Not far from Piazza Vittoria, just above the front flight of stairs, is the chairlift station to the summit of Monte Solaro and Viale San Michele, the street that leads to the Villa San Michele Museum and the belvedere overlooking the Gulf of Naples. From Piazza Vittoria also starts Via Giuseppe Orlandi, the pedestrian street enlivened by small artisans' stores that runs through Anacapri's historic center.
