Little Marina

We like to think that Ulysses was tempted by the Sirens here.

The bay of Marina Piccola is just a few minutes from the famous Piazzetta, overlooking the southern side of the island, and is one of Capri's most famous seaside resorts. It can be reached by bus, cab or on foot, walking along Via Mulo or the scenic Via Krupp, which starts at the Gardens of Augustus.

Near the small square at the bus terminus in Marina Piccola are the steps leading to the pebble beach and the small Church of St. Andrew, built in 1900. Going down the stairs, one can catch a glimpse of the "Siren Rock," which, according to the theories of some scholars of the past, was the location of the terrible Sirens narrated by Homer in the Odyssey. These rocks divide the bay of Marina Piccola into two small beaches, Marina di Mulo and Marina di Pennauro, and were used by the ancient Romans as a small port.

There are several bathing establishments in Marina Piccola with restaurants specializing in seafood cuisine and several areas of free beach. The Scoglio delle Sirene is also used as a pier for boats connecting Marina Piccola with the Faraglioni, the legendary guardians of Capri that emerge from the crystal clear sea.
