Lillaz Falls
Hiking routes in the area are countless, for all tastes and of all difficulties. Leaving aside mountaineering routes, classic rock and ice routes that reach peaks of 3000/4000 m, there are pleasant hikes in all the valleys, well marked on the ground and indicated on maps that can be obtained from the information office.
The most popular trails are those that lead to the Vittorio Sella refuge, the Herbetetet cottages or Loie Lake, but the Bardoney valley, the Valleye, the Nomenon cottages or the Trajo valley also offer the chance to observe lots of chamois, ibex and marmots. Less frequented are the other areas including the wild Grauson valley and the Lussert lakes.
Justly famous are the waterfalls of Lillaz: three truly spectacular jumps of water, a convenient 10′ walk from the hamlet of Lillaz. In early summer, when there is more water, the lowest waterfall forms a high column of water that originates refreshing splashes and rainbows. A stepped path makes it possible to climb up to the highest waterfall, offering dizzying views of the waterfalls and the narrow gorge carved by the Urtier stream.
Along the road to the falls, a geological trail has been created with large stone blocks representing the different rocks in the valley and telling us millions of years of earth's history.
