Punta Carena Lighthouse

The Punta Carena Lighthouse is one of the symbols dearest to the people of Anacapri but also one of the oldest lighthouses in Italy.

The foundation stone was laid in 1862 by the Royal Civil Engineers under the command of the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and was lit for the first time on December 1, 1867. Restored on several occasions over the years, the Punta Lighthouse still plays a strategic role today for ships crossing the Tyrrhenian Sea and emanates a light that almost reaches the power of the Genoa Lighthouse.

In the summer months the Punta Carena Lighthouse area is sun-kissed from sunrise until sunset, which is why its terraces are favored by sunbathers. There is also a bathing establishment nearby, a restaurant dedicated to local cuisine, and several snack bars that prepare excellent sandwiches and salads.

Going down to the Punta Carena Lighthouse at night is an experience that reserves suggestive emotions for a romantic walk and allows you to admire the powerful beam of light from the working lighthouse, the moonlit rocks of Capri, the starry sky, and the lampara lights of the squid fishermen shining on the sea.
