Valnontey
In Valnontey, at an altitude of 1,700 m, the Paradisia alpine garden, which has been in operation since 1955, is open in summer.
The rolling terrain and altitude, suitable for hosting both alpine and mountain floor plants, make it possible to recreate different environments. Some 1,500 alpine species are currently grown, including those from other mountain ranges around the world.
It is a unique opportunity to admire many different shaped flowers in an infinity of colors and shades, and observe the adaptations to the selective mountain environment. In addition to the higher plants, a special trail allows you to recognize the many lichens that colonize the rocks in the area.
To get closer to the themes of the alpine environment and learn about the different aspects of the Park, even on a bad weather day, it is possible to visit the Gran Paradiso Park Visitor Center. The Center, built inside the historic miners' village, is aimed at a heterogeneous audience; in fact, everyone can customize his or her own visit itinerary.
