Arzachena and the 8 sites
The territory of the municipality of Arzachena, the one in which the Crysalis Bay residence is located, is rich in archaeological evidence of great fascination and very high historical value, covering a millennia-long span of time, beginning with the Bronze Age.
In particular, there are as many as 8 sites, which together constitute a large archaeological park and which can be explored in a path that leads to the discovery of the civilizations that inhabited this area in distant eras. Of their life made for much of agriculture and pastoralism, but which was also characterized by an aptitude for trade and navigation.
The artifacts still visible today range from the best-known type among the ancient structures of the Sardinian territory, the nuraghe, particularly the Nuraghe Albucciu, around which a village of huts also developed, to the Tempietto di Malchittu, a sacred building whose tall offering counter, seats and circular hearth can still be admired. From the many well-preserved burial sites, including collective burials known as "Tombs of the Giants" and decorated with monumental stelae, to the curious and impressive granite mass called The Mushroom . An ancient refuge for the people of the Nuragic period, today you can climb to its summit to enjoy the extraordinary view of Arzachena and the surrounding valleys.
These places and the artifacts they preserve offer the experience of a leap into the past, the chance to explore an area of great beauty by following the traces left by its oldest inhabitants and to see structures and artifacts that are unique in the world.
All eight sites are located just a few kilometers from the center of Arzachena, about a quarter-hour drive from the Gulf of Pevero-the perfect excuse for exploring the hinterland even for those who have chosen a vacation dedicated to the sun and sea of Sardinia.
